The quality of peeled veneer is strictly determined by GOST 99-66. The veneer length is up to 2.5 meters, the width is up to 3.75 meters, and the thickness is from 1 to 3.5 mm. In order for the veneer to bond firmly in the future, it must have low moisture content and roughness. There are five grades of veneer E I, II, III, IV, V, depending on its grade, the quality and grade of plywood sheet is determined.
There are a large number of types and grades of material glued from wood veneer in the world. In Russia, the most widespread are general-purpose plywood boards with outer layers of coniferous and deciduous wood (mainly birch plywood). Coniferous products are regulated by GOST 3916.2-96, and deciduous ones - by GOST 3916.1-96. According to these GOSTs, the length and width of the sheet varies from 1200 to 3660 mm, and the thickness from 3 to 30 mm. The bulk of plywood produced in Russia falls into three main brands:
FC - waterproof plate. In this case, the veneer sheets are glued together with urea adhesives and the material can be used for interior work. The thicknesses in which this brand is produced are 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 9mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 20mm, 21mm, 24mm.
FSF is a plate of increased water resistance. This grade is made with phenolic-formaldehyde adhesives and is used for outdoor use.
FOF - film faced plywood is a board of increased water resistance, faced on both sides with paper impregnated with synthetic resin. The most common thicknesses in which the laminated board is produced are 18 mm and 21 mm. The entire list of manufactured thicknesses - 6 mm, 6.5 mm, 9 mm, 12 mm, 15 mm, 18 mm, 21 mm, 24 mm, 27 mm, 30 mm, 35 mm, 40 mm.
