The herbs that will turn into tea are collected in ecologically clean places in the Urals, Baikal, Altai and northern Russia in ecologically clean places far from major cities and highways. There is not a single industrial enterprise within a radius of 100 km from the collection points. It is important that these herbs are not treated with chemical fertilizers.
It is believed that the most delicate herbs and leaves that are easy to process grow in spring. Still, it is better to pick plants in the middle of summer. By this time, they have time to accumulate flavoring and aromatic substances.
It is recommended to harvest herbs in dry weather. It is desirable that they grow in the shade. But if this is not possible, then it is better to collect herbs early in the morning, since during the night the plants gain moisture and absorb nutrients with it.
As for willow tea, its collection is carried out mainly before flowering, and most importantly - before the formation of white fluff. The coarse old leaves found at the bottom of the plant are not suitable for further production. Only young, clean and healthy leaves are collected from narrow-leaved fireweed. It is from them that the most aromatic and delicious drink is made.
The pickers carefully select the most suitable leaves, therefore they collect Ivan tea exclusively by hand.
